Let's talk about Creative Courage

There is so much courage involved when you allow room to grow & evolve as an Artist.

Really it’s allowing room to make mistakes & failures.

Courage is doing something UNIQUE and DIFFERENT

Courage is welcoming serendipity and happy mistakes

Courage is having the drive to find your own style, your own voice, your own process and your own innovation

All of these things together build you up to be the fearless, imperfect, beautiful artist that you were made to be!

The start of a new month means expanding focus to new and exciting concepts, which funnily enough shows courage in itself, that you may have once feared or avoided.

In February, you have no excuses to hide from failure, messiness and trying something new because that is what life is all about.

I have a challenge for you this month

As an artist, trying to balance life, family, career and children can take away from the structure that would usually form each day - so consequently a fear of accidents, mistakes, missing pieces and spontaneity can occur.

If this is how you are feeling -- remember that some of the BEST IDEAS are usually stumbled upon by accident - there was no formula, no order and no recipe, it was simply a happy accident.

The same thing occurs in your art if you have the courage to let it.

Exploring, being open minded and being in unknown circumstances all come from daring to step out of your comfort zone - this is my challenge to you.

This month - try a new way of doing something you do everyday, drive a different route to pick up the groceries, hold your paintbrush a different way, don’t start your art again - keep it going and see what happens.

The idea is to DARE to live in the IMPERFECTIONS!

It’s time to leave space for mistakes and failures because creative expression is the best vehicle for self evolution and growth!

The only way to really grow as not only an artist but as a creative human being is to have the courage to FAIL SOMETIMES!

So it’s time to be brave and embrace the messiness and spontaneity that comes with failures every once in a while. You never know where it could lead!

THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS

In traditional creative art forms like painting, writing, dancing or playing a musical instrument - every day you are faced with mistakes or failure here and there.

So why spend each and every day trying to avoid these inevitable aspects of being an artist?

EMBRACE THEM

Failure isn't a devastating sign that you should stop creating or that you suck, but rather, it's an opportunity to see a different point of view, an invitation to try something new.

If this message sounds like a sign to start switching it up, let me help you along the way!
