I don't believe in art that just sits quietly in the background. As a contemporary female abstract painter (and a deeply busy mother), I know what it’s like to crave a space that feels entirely your own. To show who you truly are while also reflecting all you're hoping for

Artist Statement: The Story Behind the Strokes
If you read a standard abstract artist statement, you'll usually find a lot of flowery jargon. Let's keep it down to earth, like we're chatting over a cup of single origin cold drip coffee.
I paint the tension between chaos and calm. Being a Melbourne abstract artist and a mother navigating the beautiful, chaotic blur of everyday life, the canvas is where I make sense of it all.
It starts in prayer, in meditation, in my daydreams where I ask what season I'm actually in. I don't sketch. I don't plan. I let intuition lead and my design background follow behind it, turning the mess into something with meaning.
Once the chaos reaches its tipping point, I start looking for anchors. You'll often find a spiral in my work. They are my anchors. They're a window into the layers underneath and a compositional anchor holding the piece together, the same way we look for anchors to hold ourselves together during stormy seasons of life.
After losing my grandmother, the matriarch of my family, my work expanded into questions of motherhood, time and legacy. She's the anchor for the past I grieve and celebrate. My children are the anchor for the future they're still writing. And I stand in the present, searching for beauty in the mess. I love expanding on this duality and time travel in my creative practice.
I practice this in partnership with God, Jesus and Holy Spirit. Whether that's meditative drawings of a favourite verse or choosing colours in conversation with my intuition and my faith.
I use emotional storytelling through art to capture the feelings we don't always have the time or energy to voice, creating a visual sanctuary that pulls you out of the hustle and back into your own magic.
The Making of a Masterpiece
My intuitive abstract artist process means no two paintings will ever be alike. I don't sketch. I don't plan. I let the energy of the intention, the moment, the color, and the texture dictate where the piece needs to go. It is deeply personal, heavily layered, textured, and entirely unrepeatable.
Ready for something custom?
Sometimes, you need a piece that reflects your specific story, your new home, or your unique energy. Because of the intense emotional and physical labor required to create these bespoke pieces, I only accept one custom commission every three months.
What It Feels Like to Commission a Piece
I had already purchased a small pair of Brenda's artworks and loved them. When I wanted something larger, I reached out to her again.
I wanted a painting that I would love and would have a spiritual element and connection for me personally.
The process of working with Brenda was clear and easy and she communicated very well throughout the whole experience.
The most delightful part of the whole experience was the unveiling — I was amazed at how beautiful it was! I just recently hung it properly for the first time and that really made it feel complete.
I loved my painting on sight and nothing about that has changed years later. Working with Brenda was a joy with a divine end result

Working on a commission with Brenda, I liked that I could share with her what I had on my heart and to allow the Holy Spirit to be at work as she created the art work.
It was a delightful experience to work together with an artist to see something created.
There was the opportunity to adjust the painting (e.g. I had felt that the dark colours was too much and to have that easily adjusted with no fuss was pleasing). I enjoyed that Brenda made the time to ask me what I wanted and gave me the space to share and wasn't pushy in any way. She was also opened to allow God to have His input too.
The best part for me was that it tailored specifically for my friend based on what I felt the picture symbolises and the underlying spiritual meaning accompanying it.

To have a visual as well as a verbal representation of what I was calling in in my life and life’s work has felt deeply anchoring.
To watch the video of its creation was mesmerising, even meditative, and to know that it sprouted from my message for myself, other mothers and Mother Earth was even more special.
There are big plans for this little design, there is magic and medicine in there to touch hearts worldwide.
