Serotiny: What the Fire Opened | 91cm x 101cm
Serotiny brings hope and a remember that endings can be the beginning of something better.
Some Australian plants like Banksias keep their seeds sealed for years, waiting for fire. Only the heat of a blaze cracks them open. New life begins in the ash. This is serotiny.
In this painting, neon heat glows like embers beneath the blue-green of the oceans I love.
As a migrant myself, I love how it feels like quiet celebration of the resilience of this land and its people. First Nations people who know this wild land of dualities. Battlers. Migrants. Easygoing, with a strength that shows when it's tested. The fires of life’s challenges brought new life. Soft like the ocean and our native flowers, but built for something tougher
